Georgia Scholarships
There are more than 100 universities colleges in Georgia. The state of Georgia to promote college education among high school students hence provides a number of scholarships and grants. Public, private, community and technical colleges provide financial assistance on the basis of merit and financial need. The Georgia Student Finance Commission awards these scholarships and grants to students and the programs are open to all undergraduate students across all majors.
Georgia HOPE Program
The Georgia Hope Program offers three options to the students of Georgia and is funded by the state lottery program.
The Georgia Hope Scholarship is open to undergraduate students enrolled in a public or private institution located in Georgia. The students eligible for the Hope Scholarships must have a strong academic background with a consistently high GPA. To renew the scholarship every year the chosen applicants must maintain the GPA if not exceed the GPA that earned them the scholarship.
Chosen applicants receive full tuition if enrolled in public institutions and up to $1,500 per semester if enrolled in private institutions.
The Hope Grant is aimed at providing financial assistance to financially disadvantaged students with a strong academic background. The applicants should have been accepted or enrolled themselves in private or public institutions in Georgia. In case students with financial need have not completed their FAFSA forms they can directly apply for the Hope Grant.
The Hope GED Voucher is aimed at providing one-time $500 assistance to students who do not earn a traditional degree but subsequently earn a GED. The grant helps reduce tuition costs incurred at a technical school or state university, college.
Accel Program
The Accel program is ideal for students who start looking for scholarships to fund their college education while still in high school. The Accel Program provides funding for dual credit courses. Under this program, if the applicant is ahead of most of the class in high school he/she is allowed to take a college course even before graduating from high school. The scholarship award can be utilized to study in any college or university located in Georgia. The chosen applicants receive scholarship awards that cover tuition, books and other related expenses.

Georgia’s Tuition Equalization Grant Program
The Georgia’s Tuition Equalization Grant Program provides students residing in Georgia incentive to study in home colleges or universities. This program also allows out of state study if the college or institution is locate within 50 miles of the applicants permanent home in the state of Georgia. Hence applicants can apply to states surrounding Georgia, like Florida, Tennessee, North and South Carolina and Alabama.
Governor’s Scholarship Program
As a supplementary to the Georgia’s Tuition Equalization Grant Program the Governor’s Scholarship Program awards up to $1,000 to the top students of the state of Georgia for studying courses in public or private institutions located in Georgia. For more information, please visit:
