Colorado Scholarships and Grants for College

Colorado Scholarships

The state of Colorado offers a number of scholarships and grants that provide financial assistance to students pursuing college education. The eligibility and scholarship awards are different for every scholarship and grant program hence it is advised to start early, understand the criteria and offerings of every program before applying.

Denver Scholarship Foundation

The Denver Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships to undergraduate students who have passed out of the Denver Public School system and have demonstrated a financial need in their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms. The scholarship is available while enrolling in any of the 39 Colorado based institutions of higher education that includes private colleges, technical and community colleges, state colleges and universities.

The Foundation awards scholarships of up to $5,000 every year which is renewable for up to five year depending on the type of college you plan to attend. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is April 1.

Colorado Masons’ Benevolent Fund Scholarship

The Colorado Masons’ Benevolent Fund Scholarship was created in 1966 and since been awarding scholarships to students who have displayed leadership qualities, academic merit and financial need. The applicants must be residents of Colorado and should have graduated from a high school in Colorado. The chosen applicant is awarded up to$7,000 every year and the scholarship is renewable for up to four years.

LEAD Foundation Community Scholarship

The LEAD Foundation Community Scholarship provides financial assistance to students with learning disabilities or ADHD. The scholarship is awarded to students who have had a consistently strong academic record despite the challenges faced due to learning disabilities. The applicant should have also volunteered to educate the society and raise awareness about learning disabilities.

College Invest Opportunity and Service Scholarships

The College Invest Opportunity and Service Scholarships awards $1,000 to 38 Colorado students every year. The applicants for this scholarship must be undergraduate students enrolled in full-time courses at any university or college. The applicants must also display financial need in their application forms.

The College Invest Service Scholarship awards up to $6,000 to undergraduate students who commit themselves to community services that involve children. The applicants for this scholarship must be full-time undergraduate students.

Both scholarships are awarded to winners of random drawing.

College in Colorado Scholarship

The College in Colorado Scholarship awards scholarships of up to $1,500 to high schools students residing in Colorado and who have had a consistent GPA of 2.5 throughout high school. Applicants of Colorado displaying financial need on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms are automatically considered for this scholarship.

Profession-Based Scholarship

Students can apply for the College Undergraduate Level Scholarship if they wish to enroll themselves in courses of horticulture, plant pathology, landscape architecture, botany or Floriculture. The Colorado Garden and Home Show awards one scholarship every year to a chosen applicant; the scholarship covers tuition fees, boarding and living expenses.

The wide number of scholarships available in the state of Colorado often requires applicants to start looking as early as 9th grade year so that they can take the right decision.
